COMPETITION INFORMATION
PARTICIPATION
All nationalities are welcome. Dancers may enter through dance studios or as an independent.
AGE GROUPS
Junior – 8-12yrs
Youth – 13 – 17yrs
Senior -18yrs – 35yrs
A dancer/s age taken from the 1st of January 2025 will determine the age division entered. In Duet/Trio/Quatet/Groups the oldest dancer determines the age division.

ENTRY DIVISIONS
Solo – 1 dancer
Duet – 2 dancers
Trio – 3 dancers
Quartet – 4 dancers.
Groups – min of 6 dancers.
TIME LIMITS
Solo – 3min
Duet/Trio/Quartet/Groups – 3min
3 minutes is the maximum time allowed. It is not compulsory to dance for 3min, you can dance for less minutes.
VIDEO SUBMISSIONS
Once you have submitted your video and it has been assessed by The Reach for the Stars audition team, you will then receive a Congratulations email. No late submissions of solo/duet/trio/quartet/groups will be accepted.
The Congratulations email will be sent by 15th May.
MUSIC
Dancers who have qualified to upload their music on the registration form in MP3 Format by 6th June. The music must be checked and verified by the dance teacher or independent.
3 minutes is the maximum time allowed, but performances may be shorter. Music longer than 3 minutes will not be accepted.
Reach for the Stars is a family environment and all music must be clean. You will be contacted if any music changes are needed.
Performers will need to provide a backup USB labeled with your name on it. If the music stops during a performance due to a technical fault, the dancer/s will be given the opportunity to perform again.
LIGHTING AND STAGE
Professional lighting and sound will be supplied. The lighting designer at the venue shall change the lighting if needed. No personal lighting or smoke effects.
Materials like glitter, water, sand, powder, or anything similar are not allowed on the stage.
The stage dimensions may differ per event and specifications shall be emailed.
PROPS
All props must be approved. To email a photo of your props to [email protected]
Any prop that has not been approved will not be allowed on the premises.
No dangerous props allowed.
No animals.
Props to be placed on and off the stage as quickly as possible by the dancer/s, except for Juniors who may be assisted by one adult.
Reach for the Stars and venues will not be responsible for the transport and safekeeping of props.
CHOREOGRAPHY
Dancer/s cannot change the music between qualifying and finals.
Choreography can be altered/tweaked between qualifiers and finals.
SUBSTITUTE DANCERS
Solo, Duet, Trio, Quartets cannot be altered between qualifiers and finals.
Adding or removing dancers from groups for the final must be confirmed with the organiser. All changes must be sent to [email protected]
COSTUMES
Costumes should leave no mess on the stage. It’s the performers’ responsibility to make sure the stage is clean after their performance.
PERFORMING CONDITIONS
No lighting effects are allowed in the qualifier or finale. Lighting will be left to the designer at the venue to change if needed. If the music stops during a performance due to a theatre fault, the dancer/s will get the opportunity to dance again.
JUDGES AND SCORING SYSTEM
The judges’ panel will consist of two or more highly recognised individuals within the dance community. The decision of the judges is final and no appeals can be made by teachers, dancer/s or dancer/s parents, or family.

QUERIES AND CODE OF CONDUCT
Any queries are to be submitted to [email protected], we aim to create a safe space for dancer/s to share their talents, and no acts of intimidation or violence will be tolerated. No drinking or eating in the theatre.
BACKSTAGE AND DRESSING ROOMS
Only registered dancer/s and dance teachers can access backstage and dressing rooms. Dressing rooms are not offered. An open space or rooms shall be allocated for preparation due to the number of dancers.
MEDIA PERMISSIONS
The Finale will have an official photographer and videographer. There are no photos/videos allowed by the audience members. Photos and videos will be uploaded on the website and YouTube.
REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS
Reach for the Stars has a Non-Refundable policy.
